I frankly kinda enjoyed reading 我要说's blogs and anonymous comments by others. Maybe it is a very good indication that I should be spending more time on 正事, perhaps I'd be managing $billions had I followed my own advice. :-) I think the most valuable aspect is free speech. The bias, I am less worried about. After all, we are all smart people, and can see through the bias, based on our own bias. :-)
Whatever your political leaning, you are welcome to comment here. I won't close shop, or delete comments. This is merely a forum. And since people seem to enjoy anonymous posts much more (based on traffic), I am happy to provide a venue.
And as a public service, I'd try to repost some of the initial comments by 我要说 on HXNY election history. I found it informative, with bias noted.

ReplyDeleteBelow is the message I got today, and I was asked that all the parents should send it to the board member to request deduction of the tuition.
If HXNY still have that much money $240,000, it should be given back to all the parents. Reducing the tuition is one of ways. So I hope all the parents when you get this message you should send email to the board members.
Their email address:

United, yes we can.
================
To all board members:
According to HXNY Bylaws, the board has the responsibility to set “Tuition, stipend rates, and compensation rates”. Based on the financial report given on 06/19/2011 by school accountant, the school has accumulated money with the amount of $240,000 plus. This money should be used to benefit every students and families directly.
We, as HXNY members, demand this large sum of school money used immediately on all members by reducing this coming school year’s tuitions rate by 50 - 60% (= a savings of between $250.00 and $300.00 per student). Since the board members are given the responsibility to set the tuition, we want to see responsible answer from the board by Wednesday, July 6th, 2011.
If we do not hear any positive announcement regarding tuition reduction after that day, we then will consider the board is not acting on the interests of the members.
